About Citywire - Global

on Jun 07, 2010 at 20:01

A bit of history please

Citywire opened its doors in 1999 and celebrated its 10th anniversary in late 2009. And a very good party it was as well.

People at the Top

Citywire is the brainchild of Lawrence Lever, formerly financial editor of the Mail on Sunday and assistant City editor of The Times. Lawrence is now the chairman while David Turner, an experienced hand in financial publishing who joined in 2000, is chief executive.

Other important people (it says here) are commercial director George Ball, chief operating officer Richard Cook, product development director Nick Collard and Richard Lander, executive producer.

Any important people on your board?

Funny you should ask. One of our directors is Mark Wood, former chairman and chief executive of ITN and a terrifically bright and decent bloke. Nicholas Berwin was a top investment banker in the City who now devotes a lot of his time, free of charge, to the arts. Kevin Gundle runs a business which invests in hedge fund of funds. He is also one of the driving forces behind ARK, the incredible hedge fund charity which has raised tens of millions of pounds for disadvantaged kids around the world.
