Only four new managers entered the French ratings in November, the lowest total of debutants that had been seen in over a year.
However, December has reversed that trend with 11 managers making their debut in the French ratings.
Leading this influx are US equity managers Thomas Ognar and Bruce Olson of Wells Fargo. The duo are the lead managers on the Wells Fargo (LUX) WW US All Cap Growth fund and have been awarded a Citywire AA rating.
This is their first Citywire rating in France and is due to their fund being recently registered for sale in the country.
The fund has performed well during the last three years returning 92.27% against a 65.12% increase in the Russell 3000 Growth index
Driving this risk-adjusted outperformance is heavy investment in tech stocks. Their top 5 holdings include technology giants Apple and Google with tech stocks making up over a third of the funds total investment.
Further managers making their ratings debut this month include Mark Johns and Andy Seaman from EFG, Joshua Crabb from BlackRock and Fong Sengsiry from Groupama Asset Management who all enter with an A rating
Elsewhere, gaining a AAA rating this month is HSBC’s Florence Bannelier. Florence first appeared in the ratings over four years ago with an A rating and has been rated on and off since then.
This month however she seems to have found her stride on the HSBC GIF Euroland Equity Smaller Companies fund which she runs and has risen to the upper tier of the ratings with a AAA rating this month.
Looking at the group stakes Fidelity adorns the top spot with 20 rated managers, second lie Threadneedle & BlackRock with 10 rated managers. Joint third are Schroders and JP Morgan who all have 9 rated managers
Overall 290 ratings were awarded this month with 46 AAA, 66 AA and 178 A, we now track 2882 managers running 4114 funds. 2066 of these managers have the necessary track record to warrant inclusion in our ratings
