Dalton Strategic Partnership has strengthened its multi-asset team with the hire of portfolio manager Luca Vaiani from Italian outfit Fondaco SGR.
Vaiani joins the company, known as DSP, in its London-based offices and will be added to the six-strong team on the Melchior Selected Trust Global Multi-Asset Fund under the company’s CIO Rupert Caldecott.
Prior to joining DSP, Vaiani had served as head of absolute return strategies and private equity at the Italian asset management firm Fondaco.
He had also been lead manager on its multi-asset, absolute return offering, the Fondaco Global Opportunities fund.
Commenting on Vaiani’s appointment, Rupert Caldecott said: ‘Luca is a valuable addition to our multi asset team.'
'He is a high quality investor with over 14 year’s investment experience and a proven record of delivering absolute returns in tough markets and across the economic cycle.’
The Luxembourg-domiciled Melchior Selected Trust Global Multi Asset fund has returned 12.93% since it was launched in April 2011.
The appointment of Vaiani comes shortly after DSP bolstered its European equities team with the hire of analyst Eleanor Lee. Lee joins the firm in its London office and reports to fund manager Leonard Charlton.

Good news for the company in my opinion. I have analysed Luca's historical performance and it is very strong to say the least.
