Veteran investor Graham Clapp has hired a former Fidelity colleague to his London-based absolute return boutique Pensato Capital.
Clapp, who had previously run the €9.7 billion Fidelity Funds - European Growth fund, has hired Jonathan Relph to serve as an analyst.
Pensato Capital was established by fund selector favourite Clapp in 2008 following his departure from Fidelity, where he had worked for 22 years.
Clapp’s departure from the Fidelity led to the European Growth fund being handed to Alexander Scurlock. This fund was handed to Matt Siddle in July this year.
After setting up Pensato, Clapp established a Cayman Island domiciled long/short European equity hedge fund and added a Ucits version, the Pensato Europa Absolute Return fund, in October 2010.
Earlier in his career, Pensato’s new addition Relph worked for Fidelity between 2004 and 2009 covering a range of briefs.
He took in emerging markets, metal and mining markets, as well as European construction and infrastructure.
After leaving Fidelity, Relph joined Citadel Investment Group, where he worked on the firm’s Global Equities Market Neutral Hedge fund as an analyst.
