F&C Investments has handed Citywire Alternative Ucits AAA-rated manager Ben Fox (pictured) a key role in its multi-alternative business ahead of current head Ken Kinsey-Quick stepping down.
Fox joins the team from Goodhart Partners, an alternative investment boutique he founded in 2007. He had overseen fund of funds and Alt Ucits fixed income strategies in this role.
As part of the appointment, F&C will assume control of Fox’s main fund, the Goodhart Partners Horizon Fund – Target Return Fund . Also joining the F&C multi-alternative business from Goodhart will be portfolio analyst Alex Jones.
The appointment of Fox will see him initially handed a co-head position alongside current department chief Ken Kinsey-Quick.
Fox will assume full control when Kinsey-Quick, who worked F&C subsidiary Thames River Capital, steps down in March.
In addition to setting up his own boutique, Fox had also previously worked in the fund of funds team at Fidelity and served as head of fixed income research within institutional strategies at Aon Consulting.
Commenting on the appointment, a spokesperson for F&C said: ‘Developing our multi-asset business is a core focus for F&C in 2013, and Ben’s appointment is a significant step in the building of our capabilities in the multi alternatives component of this.’
The Goodhart Partners Horizon Fund – Target Return has returned 10.12% over the past 36 months. This compares to the average manager in the Citywire Alternative Ucits Fund of Funds Sector, who returned 2.96% over the same time frame.
