Santander Asset Management has hired Jose Manuel López Mayher who will join its global fund selection team in Madrid.
López Mayher (pictured) has joined the Spanish giant as a fund analyst for the Alternative Ucits, convertibles and asset allocation sectors.
His appointment can be viewed as a sign of the Spanish bank's growing interest towards the Alternative Ucits sector.
López Mayher will be part of the firm's global selection team led by José María Martínez-Sanjuan. The team is based in Madrid and London and now counts with six fund specialists including equity analysts Gabriel Simón, Marta Pérez Cogollos and Fernando Rivero and bond fund specialists Eduardo Sánchez Alonso and Santiago Vidal.
The team is part of Santander Asset Management and is in charge of selecting funds for third party providers for the banking group on a worldwide scale.
Prior to joining Santander, López Mayher worked at International Capital Research for seven year selecting and running portfolios of hedge funds for Spanish institutional clients.
