Top GLG bond manager poached for Schroders fixed income push

Schroders have hired GLG manager Gareth Isaac who will join as a senior manager within the firm’s fixed income multi-sector team.

The new manager is set to join the firm in October and will run some of the team’s pan-European portfolios.

At GLG Partners, Isaac managed the firm’s UK-domiciled GLG Total Return Bond and GLG Gilts funds and is also a Citywire AAA-rated manager in the UK. Prior to joining GLG, he worked as a senior fixed income manager at SG Asset Management.

His appointment is the latest in a hiring spree which has seen Schroders acquire the services of two top bond managers, former Western Asset manager Rajeev De Mello as its new head of Asian fixed income and UBS bond veteran Bob Jolly as it new head of global macro for the fixed income team.

Commenting on the appointment Schroders’ CIO of fixed income Philippe Lespinard said:

‘Gareth brings a set of skills that complement our existing multi-sector framework. He has more than 12 years experience as a portfolio manager in global fixed income markets, and has developed an enviable and consistent track record through a wide variety of market environments.’

The Schroders fixed income multi-sector team is responsible for managing UK, euro and global aggregate funds as well as benchmark unconstrained portfolios.
