The German firm's new recruit will run its investments in the UK, Americas and Asia.

Union Investment names new property chief

Union Investment has appointed Martin Brühl as the head of its newly-created international real estate investment department.

He will take up his new role from 1st May and will be responsible for managing the company's real estate investments in the UK, the Americas and Asia.

Prior to his recent appointment, Brühl was a managing partner at real estate consultants Cushman & Wakefield where he was in charge of its business operations in Germany and from 2007 was part of its' European management team.

The firm said it has now completed the restructuring of its investment management activities following this new hire.

Commenting on the appointment Dr. Frank Billand, in charge of the firm's investment management division, said: 'Over the coming years, we intend to return to a stronger focus on high yield office and logistics properties outside Europe.'
