Accumulator: oil and emerging markets lead the way

Emerging markets and oil have been the strong performers this week, with Asia consolidating its status as the best performing region of the year.

Oil continued its strong showing in recent weeks, with the price up 2% over the week to yesterday, as our exclusive Accumulator data table shows.

A barrel of Brent crude is today changing hands at $63.57, boosted by a dent to supply from an outage on the US Keystone pipeline, and Russia's readiness to support a deal among members of the Opec cartel to cut output.

That boost to the oil price helped Russia's stock market jump 2.6% over the week, beaten only by Brazil's 3.3% rise.
