Five ways to make investment trusts better
Investment trusts need to pull their socks up if they are to compete with funds, says expert Grant Challis.
Investment trusts have had a rocky decade, with many experts predicting their demise amid growing competition from ETFs and open-ended funds – not to mention the split capital scandal.
The financial services industry is changing however. Rules soon coming into force – the watchdog's so-called Retail Distribution Review – will prevent financial advisers from taking commission, which historically has led many of them to favour funds above investment trusts.
But one expert argues investment trusts need to pull their socks up to take advantage of the new regime. Grant Challis is a partner at Frostrow Capital, which provides services to the investment trust sector, and in this video he lays out his five point plan for securing the sector's future.
