Fund of the Week: do you dare turn to JPM New Europe?

Europe is back in vogue as an investment destination. If you're feeling really brave this fund investing in eastern Europe looks really interesting.

Fund of the Week: do you dare turn to JPM New Europe?

When to put your money back into Europe is fast becoming one of the most discussed topics in the investment world. Western Europe has taken most of the attention, but there is another area that you may overlook. Eastern or Emerging Europe has been hit hard with the negative sentiment surrounding its neighbours, with countries like Poland, Czech Republic and Turkey all feeling the brunt.

JPM New Europe , a recommendation of Citywire Selection, is one fund investing in the region. Its managers, Oleg Biryulyov and Sonal Tanna, say these economies are well placed to make the most of any recovery in European fortunes.

In this video I explain how the fund invests a lot in energy and financial companies, many of them in Russia. Although the long-term perforamance has been good I also stress the fund's high risk nature.

I have been into Russian property for years. Recently bought an ETF on the Dax - German determination will survive anything.

I bought Jupiter European Opportunities back in Feb on a stonking discount and greatly enjoyed the 30%+ return I enjoyed before selling a few weeks ago. I'm still slightly over-weight on Europe and keep casting around for other great ITs on deep discounts.
