Investing in 2012: views from the best in the business
Amid such market uncertainty, we turn to six of the best fund managers to see what investment decisions they're making.
It's not an easy time to be an investor. What will 2012 hold?
We've just returned from a fact-finding trip to Edinburgh, the UK's second financial centre after London, where we interviewed six of the leading investors in Citywire Selection, our guide to the best investments around. We canvassed their views on what they expect to happen to markets in 2012.
Here's who we met:
Stuart O’Gorman – Henderson Global Technology. The top technology manager over the last five years.
Jonathan Asante – First State Global Emerging Markets Leaders. Head of emerging markets at arguably the best emerging markets house in the UK.
Stuart Paul – First State WorldWide Equity. Joint managing partner of Asian and emerging markets equities at First State.
Harry Nimmo – Standard Life Inv UK Smaller Companies. The best long-term smaller companies manager in the UK and head of the new global smaller companies fund.
Bruce Stout – Murray International. One of the most consistent global investment trusts in the UK and regularly trades at a premium.
Edward Legget – Standard Life Inv UK Equity Unconstrained. A bright young investment talent who is among the very top managers in UK All Companies over three and five years.
Like what you have seen? We will release full-length interviews with these fund managers over the coming weeks.
