Investment Trust Insider 34 is out now!

The latest issue of our free e-zine looks at the changes blowing the way of UK equity income and infrastructure trusts.

Investment Trust Insider 34 is out now!

Welcome to Investment Trust Insider! The latest issue includes:

Are infrastructure trusts too expensive?

Spending on infrastructure has suddenly become a priority on both sides of the Atlantic. With politicians on all sides looking to stimulate economic growth through investment, we ask what a spike in inflation would mean for infrastructure investment trusts?

Equity Income: is this the great rotation?

A combination of the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s election to the White House has caused a significant shift in the investment universe. Investors have begun to ‘rotate’ away from expensive bonds and high quality, defensive stocks towards shares in ‘cyclical’ companies more exposed to the ups and downs of the economy. How out of favour does this leave UK equity income funds?

Buy, Sell, Hold

A round-up of the best analyst comments and insights on investment trusts.

What happened to the promised interview with Barnett, whose PLI has lost over 15% year to date while the All Share has risen 9.7%? Less than half that drop is due to the widening discount: the rest is very poor performance and bad calls (leading me to sell mine in the middle of the year). I note that many of the institutional investors who three years ago accounted for around 60% of the shareholders, have also deserted, leaving Invesco itself as the main shareholder of note.

PLI looks cheap at present, but the very poor performance to get to that point needs explaining by the manager, who still takes a handsome fee....

Following on from @Micawber's point:

It would also be interesting to know how Mr Barnett was able to at least basically 'tread water' YTD with his management of supposedly similiar EDIN, which is far better than he achieved with PLI.
