Overnight Markets: Automakers lift Wall Street to new record highs

Airline shares were among the biggest positives in the S&P 500, with the Delta Air Lines jumping 6.6%.


In Japan, the Nikkei 225 was up 0.24% at 20,664 in morning trade and the Topix index advanced 0.13%.

Elsewhere, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up 0.88% at 28,421. Singapore's Straits Times index fell 0.26%. Australian stocks slipped, with the benchmark ASX 200 down 0.71% at 5,661 in late-morning trade. Markets in China and South Korea remain closed for public holidays.
