Pensions regulator prosecutes ex-BHS boss Chappell

Dominic Chappell faces court appearance after failing to provide information to The Pensions Regulator over his acquisition of the now collapsed British Home Stores (BHS).

Pensions regulator prosecutes ex-BHS boss Chappell

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) will prosecute former BHS owner Dominic Chappell over failing to provide documents it asked for during its investigation of the acquisition of the chain of stores.

Chappell's company Retail Acquisitions bought the now collapsed BHS for £1 from Philip Green's Arcadia group in March 2015.

TPR opened an investigation into the sale over a £571 million deficit in the BHS defined benefit pension scheme.

Now TPR is prosecuting Chappell for not complying with three notices for information under Section 72 of the Pensions Act 2004.

Chappell has been summoned to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 20 September 2017 ‘to face three charges of neglecting or refusing to provide information and documents, without a reasonable excuse’.
