About Citywire - New Model Adviser
on Jun 07, 2010 at 19:49
How can we help you?
Citywire’s guiding aim is to help you make better decisions in running your business and serving your clients. That can mean anything from interpreting the FSA’s latest rules and regulations to weighing up the best investment strategies for clients, along with all the hot industry news, moves and gossip.
We also believe in the power of the New Model Adviser community via the comments facility and our Forums. You’ll find that your peers tend to be an opinionated lot.
Why can we help you?
Without sounding too immodest, we think we have the best team of financial journalists around.
There’s more than 25 of them and a large majority of them have taken their exams and are registered as investment advisers with the UK Financial Services Authority.
They have won a stack of awards including the Team Award for Excellence in Investment Writing from the Investment Management Association every year since 2005. They’re our version of the Oscars although we manage to keep our eyes dry when we accept the trophies.
We’re also pretty good at providing the information tools you might need. If you visit our Performance section you’ll find a treasure trove of facts and figures that can help you make the best investment selections.
We’re particularly proud of the way we sort out the best fund managers with our unique Fund Manager Ratings. They were our idea and are used by many major fund management houses in their adverts.
You’ll also learn quite a lot from fellow readers via the comments facility and our Forums. They tend to be an opinionated lot. (Money edition only)
So how do we make money?
The site is completely free to read. This is broadly how we earn our money:
- Advertising and sponsorship on the website
- Advertising and sponsorship in our magazines for financial professionals
- Sponsored events attended by financial professionals
- Fund management companies paying us to licence the Citywire Fund Manager Ratings. Note that we never charge them to rate their managers. They only pay us if they want to license the Ratings.
How many people work at Citywire?
Right now (June 2010) we’ve around 100 people in departments ranging from editorial to sales, IT, events, accounts and production.

And where has the PDF option for articles disappeared -- that was wonderful! you could also email articles to other people before...
Please bring these features back!

Thanks for the feedback.
To David Halsall and Anonymous 1 - share price info is still available via the 'click here for FTSE charts and share prices' link under the FTSE chart on the top right of the page.
To C - we have reinstated the comment, email a friend and print functions next to all articles. There is no PDF option however the print function will take you straight through to a print formatted web article.
I hope this helps - please let us know if you have any further suggestions.

The PDF format was extremely helpful for filing articles which were of use to provide to the FSA that you had read certain fund managers reports etc in coming to a decision where and how to invest. Can we please have these back.
