Adrian Ballardie takes the helm on CII board
by Maryrose Fison on Apr 29, 2009 at 10:14
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has today announced that David Gittings has stepped down as chairman of the London Market Faculty board after two years in the role.
He is being replaced by Adrian Ballardie of Tokio Marine Global Limited.
The London Market Faculty is a centre of excellence and best practice specifically created for the London insurance market. Ballardie’s new role will involve supporting the CII’s professionalism drive within general insurance initiatives and continuing the debate around key issues of qualifications.
Ballardie praised Gittings for the active contribution made during his tenure. 'David put much time and energy into preparing for the meetings, promoting the views and suggestions emanating from the committee and his range of knowledge and experience enabled him to bring valuable guidance to the various issues explored by the London Market Faculty.'
'Amongst many initiatives undertaken during his chairmanship, the London Market Faculty supported the CII on professional development, climate change, the competency framework and the counter terrorism event held with the Metropolitan Police,' he added.
Ballardie has been at the Tokio Marine Global since January 2005 when he was appointed chief underwriting officer. Prior to this he was employed at Axa Re (UK) for 12 years reaching the position of CEO.
