Allan Rosengren quits Lighthouse after Falcon closure
by Daniel Grote on Oct 04, 2011 at 07:37
Lighthouse director Allan Rosengren has left the company following the closure of the Falcon network he founded 28 years ago.
Rosengren (pictured) joined the Lighthouse board in 2008, when the group bought Sumus, the holding company of Falcon. Lighthouse earlier this year closed Falcon, merging it with its LighthouseXpress network into a single regulated entity, Lighthouse Adviser Services.
Lighthouse last week announced in its interim results that the closure of Falcon, and the potential historic liabilities attached to it, had led it to incur a £2.9 million one-off charge.
In a statement to the market Lighthouse said Rosengren had decided 'to step down and focus on his other business interests.'

Feel a touch sorry for Allan who always came across as a decent chap. Looks like he sold to the wrong firm who are clearly run by people who are nit quite sure what they are doing. I'm not sure they would agree with that though!

Article title a bit misleading; all organisations rationalise brands. At least Adviser Services describes their activities better hta express or falcon

Yes, Allen always struck me as a decent fellow, though there's no getting away from the fact that if Lighthouse have had to set aside £2.9m (or have incurred a one-off charge of that amount, whatever that means), they must have found rather a lot of skeletons in the Falcon closet.

Well it's a bit ambiguous - one suggests a provision of 2.9m against past liabilities but another article suggests it's a write-off which suggests that have written off the value of the falcon business against the value that they paid for it. Each reflects very differently on the buyer!!!

I have known (and worked with) Allan for several years and have always been impressed by his manners. A true gentleman at heart and someone you could always count on to do the right thing. In such a cut throat industry Allan stood out as someone who didn't step on anyones toes and treated everyone who worked for him with equal respect and gratitude. His success is testament to this fact and he thoroughly deserves a rest. Without such concientious individuals our industry would go backward. There are a 101 reasons for accountancy write-offs (if they're doing their job properly) so I would suggest we ignore the typical British tabloid tendencies to criticise someones efforts and give praise where it is clearly deserved.
