Aviva appoints European chief

by Chris Marshall on Mar 31, 2008 at 13:53

Aviva has appointed a new chief executive for its European division, with Andrea Moneta to join the insurer in July.

Moneta, who is a former head of strategic planning at the European Central Bank, will be heading up a team working across 15 European countries. He replaces Tidjane Thiam who left Aviva last year to join rival Prudential.

Moneta spent two years as chief financial officer for UniCredit and was managing director of Dubai Financial Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Moss, group chief executive of Aviva, said: ‘Andrea's appointment completes the formation of my executive team and he will play a key part in delivering our 'One Aviva, twice the value' vision, taking our European business to the next stage of its growth and development.’
