Braemar hires new head of business development

Braemar has recruited James Agar from Kaupthing Singer Friedlander to serve as its head of business development.

Agar was previously head of property finance in the north of England at Kaupthing and will be responsible for fund development, property buying and relationship management.

Braemar chief executive Marc Duschennes said: ‘His experience in property finance fits perfectly with what we do at Braemar and I am sure he will be instrumental in driving forward our existing products as well as helping to develop new funds for the group.’

Braemar, which began life managing a £250 million residential property portfolio, has launched a series of collective funds based on counter-cyclical land and property investment over the last 18 months.

Agar, who previously assessed and managed corporate lending at the Cooperative Bank, said: ‘The opportunity to work closely with Marc and come on board with Braemar was extremely attractive.

‘I look forward to the challenging role I have ahead of me, and I am sure the company with go from strength to strength, even with prevailing economic conditions.’
