Certus bolsters adviser numbers by recruiting former PosSol IFA

Hampshire-based The Certus Partnership has hired a former Positive Solutions IFA as part of an expansion plan, which involved the firm more than doubling its adviser numbers in the past year.
The Certus Partnership director Richard Palmer (pictured) said the firm had four investment advisers in January 2012 and the recruitment of George Rashbrook from Aegon-owned national PosSol would boost numbers to 10.
‘George [Rashbrook] became disillusioned with the changes at PosSol,’ he said. ‘[At PosSol] they have to work to a formula. With me, he can just pick up the phone or send me an email.’
The firm recently hired two life assurance and mortgage advisers and is looking for a third. In June last year it acquired Poole-based Nicholson Evans Associates, which had 200 clients.
In July 2012 Certus took on Hampshire-based Professional Connection (South) as an appointed representative. Professional Connection was previously a member of Sage Financial Services, which entered administration when parent company Honister Capital collapsed.
‘We are expanding so that in five years’ time, although not necessarily looking for an exit strategy, we will be in a good position,’ said Palmer.
