Roland Arnold is a member of the UK Equity Team within the Fundamental Equity Division of BlackRock's Alpha Strategies Group. Arnold has been co-manager of the BlackRock UK Special Situations Fund since August 2012, and manager of Small & Mid Cap UK Equity Portfolios since 2006. Arnold is also responsible for the analysis of the UK Technology sector. Arnold joined BlackRock in 2000, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. Prior to joining MLIM in 2000, Arnold worked at a UK retail bank as a performance and credit analyst. Arnold earned a BA (Hons) in Economics and Management from Leeds University in 1998.

Lucy Marmion

Lucy Marmion is a portfolio manager at BlackRock and is responsible for managing small and mid-cap equity portfolios, as well as researching the capital goods sector. Marmion joined the firm in 2008 when she joined the firm as a member of the Investment training program and was an investment analyst on the UK Equity team and the European Specialist Equity team. Marmion earned a BA (Hons) degree in economics from Durham University in 2007.


The aim of the BlackRock UK Smaller Companies Fund is to achieve long term capital growth for investors. The Fund invests primarily in the shares of smaller companies incorporated or listed in the UK which we consider to have above average growth prospects. The Fund may also invest in collective investment schemes. Smaller companies are those whose market capitalisations are similar to that of companies in the Hoare Govett Smaller Companies plus AiM ex-Investment Trusts Index at the time of the Fund's investment.
