Investment Sense boosts adviser count to five

Nottingham-based IFA Investment Sense has appointed two new advisers, boosting the number to five.

Sarah McCarthy, who specialises in occupational and company pensions, joins the firm from Ascent Financial Planning having previously worked at Four Corners Financial Management.

Shaun Brennan joins from the Co-operative Bank where he was an IFA. He has worked in financial services for 22 years and specialises in investment advice and retirement planning.

Investment Sense director and founder Anna Timms (pictured) said it was great for the firm to have attracted two experienced advisers.

‘To attract such experienced and highly qualified advisers as Shaun and Sarah is a real coup for us.

‘Both believe in what we are trying to achieve and share our desire to be a force for change in the way people perceive IFAs,’ said Timms.

Investment Sense was founded at the beginning of 2010. In addition to receiving advice, clients can purchase ISAs and unit trusts directly from the firm. The company website also provides information such as blogs, guides and best buy tables.

The firm recently expanded the best buy savings accounts featured on its website to include accounts available on Sipps.

Timms said: ‘We noticed that this sort of information was not easily available in one place for consumers or indeed financial advisers and it seemed logical to add these types of accounts to the existing ones on our website.’

‘With investors becoming more nervous about the markets we are seeing a flight to caution. Which, despite low interest rates, is meaning more money held in Sipps is being invested in deposit accounts.’
