The rules
Citywire has given £4,000 to each of the four participants in the New Model Adviser® investment trust challenge to invest in investment trusts which will run between 1 January and 31 December 2012.
The participant who has generated the highest return (after costs) will win the competition and any surplus from all of the portfolios will be donated to a charity of their choice. Citywire will also match the winner's surplus. So if a participant wins with a surplus of £1,000 pounds we will pay an extra £1,000. If none of the participants make a surplus then Citywire will give 10% of the overall residue to charity. The surplus will calculated after costs have been deducted.
The participants are free to invest in any investment trust available through the Transact platform with no constraints on their investment strategy.
You can track the participants' investment trust picks and performance over the year here while Citywire head of research Jon Miller will comment on the portfolios including the level of risk taken by participants.
