L&G to shed up to 450 service jobs
by Edward Lander on Feb 26, 2009 at 10:21
Legal & General is planning to make between 250 and 450 job cuts as part of a review into support services at the group.
An L&G spokesman said that the company had begun consulting unions over redundancies in its ‘support functions.’
‘L&G will keep any potential redundancies to a minimum and will try to find suitable alternative employment for staff affected. Potential redundancies are being driven by changing business demand and operational efficiencies,’ he said.
The company has 8,500 staff across offices in Kingswood, Brighton, Cardiff and London.
The news emerged yesterday shortly after Standard Life announced 195 job cuts throughout the country.
Legal & General shares rose 7p to 42p.
