'Mass brawl' erupts at Brewin Dolphin Xmas party, court hears

A Brewin Dolphin broker ignited a ‘mass brawl’ after he discovered his fiancée had cheated on him with a colleague, according to reports.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard broker Robert Nicolson was accused of attacking IT employee Anthony Field and his actions allegedly sparked a brawl at the company’s Christmas party last year, according to the Daily Mail.

The court heard that Nicolson acted as the ‘fire-starter’ in the fight, during which Field was punched, kicked and glassed, said the paper.

Field suffered two black eyes and facial injuries during the fight at the Queen of Hoxton bar in East London.

Brewin Dolphin data analyst Graham Sutherland also allegedly joined in the fight and another colleague, Gary Jones, has admitted to smashing a glass bottle over Field during the fight.

The court heard that Nicolson confronted Field on the dancefloor after he had discovered he was having an affair with his future wife, Alex Miller. It escalated as Nicolson's friends joined in against Field.

Nicolson told the court: ‘The argument was between Anthony Field and I, and no-one else. No-one else was supposed to get involved.’

Perhaps this was a far to agressive strategy to follow.

A brawl at a Christmas Bash. What is this industry coming to time for some severe regulation I think!

The strategy was that "No-one else was supposed to get involved." Is that the usual strategy?

If your fiance is having an affair with someone from the IT department, she's probably not worth fighting for....

Ah brings back the nostalga of unlimited drink accounts until the wee small hours when men were men and sheep were scared. What is it now £25 per head before the tax man strides into the room in his Grinch suit. Once upon a time £25 WAS the first drink.

Xmas do's are scary when the bar is free, attended my first one at 18 drank most of the bar, pelted the chairman with bread rolls through out his speech and smoked a monster cigar whilst being a non smoker, memories, well actually from that night absolutely none just a lot of finger pointing in the office on the following Monday, as my boss said at the time "well Chris if they did'nt know you before they certainly do now".

"his future wife, Alex Miller"

Does anyone know if the wedding went ahead and if so, how was the reception?

Did Mr Nicolson drown the verger in the champagne fountain following a nasty incident in the chapel!
