The paraplanning community had a fantastic year in 2012. The input and support we received, both from the professional bodies and from advisers and other industry professionals up and down the UK, was very much appreciated and set a precedent for the kind of work and training we are aiming for in future years.
The annual conferences from both the Institute of Financial Planning and Personal Finance Society catered noticeably for the needs and interests of paraplanners, and both stated their commitment to continue to do this.
The conferences also invited individual paraplanners to contribute and be involved in these events, giving a platform to new people to share their ideas and experience with an audience hungry to learn.
Room for ideas
We are now looking to see what 2013 will bring and plans are afoot for various events. Input and feedback from paraplanners is important at this time and I have heard several good ideas and suggestions.
However, there is always room for more. What would you be interested in? Is it technical training, online support, meetings or conferences? What subjections, topics or speakers would you like to listen to and, just as importantly, what would you prefer not to see?
All the paraplanners I have spoken to are aiming to build on the success of 2012 and raise standards in 2013. Feel free to share your ideas.
