CII hosts big conversation on risks facing women

CII hosts big conversation on risks facing women

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is hosting an event highlighting the specific risks facing women.

The event, Insuring Women’s Futures: The Big Conversation, will take place on 6 March. Speakers include Inga Beale, chief executive of Lloyd’s of London, and Sue Black, founder of TechMums, which offers courses for women to improve their technical knowledge.

The event will encourage financial planning professionals to recognise and address the unique risks women are exposed to.

According to a recent CII research paper, the average man accumulates five times the pension pot of the average woman. Furthermore, men in their late 30s have 60% more in savings than women of the same age.

‘The event is a great opportunity to look at ways to narrow the financial gap between men and women,’ said Tali Shlomo, people engagement director at the CII. ‘As more and more women turn to IFAs for advice and guidance, knowing the root cause of this gap will enrich the advice and conversation they receive.’

The event, open to both men and women, will be held at The Mermaid conference centre in London.
