Stephen Message, who was formerly equity income fund manager at Old Mutual Global Investors, has joined Legal & General Investment Management.
Message has joined the company's global income team Wealth Manager can reveal.
His appointment follows the exit of Adrian Darley, who was responsible for LGIM's UK equity income mandates. According to the FCA register, Darley left the company at the start of the year and was responsible for the UK equity income mandates at the group.
Message (pictured) joined Old Mutual in 2008 as a senior analyst in the group's large cap team. A year later he replaced Michael Gifford on the firm's equity income and extra income funds.
Message was previously AAA-rated by Citywire. Over three years to the end of December 2016, the Old Mutual UK Equity Income fund returned 15.39% versus a sector average of 18.11%. Over five years it returned 82.01% compared to an average of 73.48%.
An LGIM spokesperson said: 'Stephen joined the global income team as of yesterday as a fund manager with a focus on UK income strategies.'
