Manchester-based IFA Pareto Financial Planning has secured a sponsorship deal for rising England cricket star Haseeb Hameed.

Lancashire-born Hameed (pictured) made his debut for England during the 2016 winter tour of India aged 19, becoming the first teenager to feature in an England cricket team since 1949. In the first test against India at Rajkot he became the youngest debutant to open for England in a test match, scoring 31 and 82.

Pareto Financial Planning has secured a deal where the advice firm will sponsor Hameed’s bat, with the firm’s logo appearing on the back of the cricketer’s bat during the summer where England play host to South Africa and the West Indies.

The right-handed batsman, who also bowls right-arm leg spin, said he was pleased to get the backing of a local firm: ‘It’s great to be associated with a local company, as I’m a local lad who is proud to have represented both Lancashire and England at such an early stage in my career.

‘I’m really grateful to Pareto’s [co-founders] John Stevenson and George Chantry for their support.’

The opening batsman added he was keen to continue the form that saw him selected for England last year.

‘Now, I just want to continue being the same person as I was last year, to stay true to myself and hopefully continue to do the things that got me into the England squad last year,’ he said.

Pareto Financial Planning director Chantry, whose son attends Bolton School where Hameed was also educated, said: ‘We are proud to be supporting Haseeb as he is a great role model to young people in Bolton and beyond.’
