Market Harborough-based Clarkson Wayman Ball (CWB) has hired a former national St James’s Place (SJP) compliance officer to help with its expansion plans.
Previous New Model Adviser® cover star firm CWB has appointed Jon Dibble (pictured) as group compliance director. He worked at SJP between 1999 and 2003 before moving to Sesame Bankhall for nearly three years.
More recently Dibble held compliance roles in smaller advice firms, Bromsgrove-based Johnson Fleming and national firm Gale and Phillipson.
Dibble said he wanted to instil a ‘new age’ approach to compliance at CWB.
‘I have a vision for the compliance function at CWB,’ he said. ‘I have worked in a lot of different compliance functions in the past, where a lot of legacy risk management and infrastructure was built around rules and regulations and very much defined procedures.’
He said there was a need for procedures and regulations in driving ‘the right outcomes’. But he said it was more important for an organisation to employ people with the right skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviour ‘to almost do my job for me’.
‘They can say: “This does not provide the best outcome for the client, I want to do something differently.” Then I can steer them in the right direction,’ said Dibble.
CWB has offices in Market Harborough, Bromsgrove and London and has recently set up in Bristol and Scotland.
