Old Mutual's Nickols: small caps can continue to thrive

Citywire + rated Dan Nickols, of Old Mutual Global Investors, thinks smaller companies are set to continue their outperformance relative to the bigger beasts thanks to greater diversity.

‘If you look at the small cap index, you don’t have a sector like banks which is dogged by ongoing concerns, but a real range of themes,’ said Nickols.

In a video interview with Max Skjönsberg, Nickols also explained why his £871.5 million Old Mutual Smaller Companies fund has in recent years failed to repeat its excellent performance between 2004 and 2009 when Nickols was AAA-rated by Citywire.
