Pipe follows dream to go solo and improve work-life balance

Paraplanner Julie Pipe has left Berkshire-based Petrus Financial Services to set up her own outsourced service JW Paraplanning.

Pipe (pictured), who has previously worked as both a paraplanner and an adviser, said it had always been her ambition to start her own business.

‘It’s something I have thought about for a while,’ she said. ‘When I was employed and had a steady salary it was a difficult step to make. But it’s also about lifestyle. While I will always be available for advisers, it will let me fit work around my life and work from home.’

Pipe is a certified financial planner and holds the accredited paraplanner qualification from the Institute of Financial Planning. She is currently working towards chartered status.

She said: ‘I have been a paraplanner, an adviser, and I have run a team of 15 paraplanners before. I have had a mixed career which I think prepares me well for the outsourcing role.’
