Regional: Equilibrium goes rogue with lesson from Leeson

Cheshire-based Equilibrium Asset Management held its inaugural wealth conference last Wednesday, with infamous rogue trader Nick Leeson headlining.

Leeson caused the collapse of England’s oldest bank, Baring’s, in 1995, when he was a 28-year-old investment broker. He will share what he learned the hard way about risk management, compliance and corporate responsibility.

The event, Equinox Live, took place at Alderley Park in Cheshire. Speakers included JP Morgan Asset Management global market strategist Michael Bell; behavioural economist and head of behavioural science at Oxford Risk Greg Davies; Miton Group senior executive director and fund manager Gervais Williams; and fraud expert and former host of BBC TV series The Real Hustle Alexis Conran.

Equilibrium managing partner Colin Lawson (pictured) said: ‘This event has been an idea of mine for many years and one I was excited to finally bring to life.

‘As with our Equinox magazine, the aim for this event is to present a wide variety of content that will invariably interest anybody aiming to maximise their assets while minimising risk, cost and tax.

‘The creation and hosting of Equinox Live fits with our general ethos, which is to constantly evolve and adapt while allowing us to deliver the best and most efficient service to our clients.’
