Tilney hires PwC Scotland advice head

Tilney Group has continued its recruitment drive with the hire of PwC’s Scottish wealth advisory head, Bruce Saunderson.

Saunderson joins as a director in the firm’s Glasgow office, following a six-year stint at PwC. Prior to this, he was a senior financial planner at Grant Thornton and a director of wealth management at Maclay Murray & Spens.

His appointment fits with the firm’s ambitious growth plans through a combination of hires and further acquisitions.

This week, the group announced the appointment of Charles Stanley’s former head of charities Nicholas Pearson, who came out of retirement to join the company as head of charity business development.

Ex-Signia investment chief Chris Godding has been hired as chief investment officer, replacing Gareth Lewis who is now managing director of investment strategy. Andrew Brown also came on board this month from Sanlam to lead Tilney’s equity team.

In late January, the group launched a Newcastle office under David Smith.

Following the recent rebrand from Tilney Bestinvest to Tilney Group, chief executive Peter Hall (pictured) announced that a ‘significant recruitment drive’ for high calibre financial planners and investment managers was underway.

As part of the change in name, national advice firm Towry also became part of Tilney following its £600 million acquisition last year.
