Vanguard to expand reach with low-cost Hargreaves move

Vanguard Asset Management has launched its full sterling range of low-cost index funds on to Hargreaves Lansdown's Vantage, joining its existing 12-strong offering on the platform.

The newly-listed funds include passive products that track global indices, with ongoing charges ranging from 0.15% to 0.55%.

The range includes the Vanguard Emerging Markets Stock Index fund, the Japan Stock Index fund, the Global Bond Index fund, and the UK Government Bond Index fund among others.

Adam Laird, passive investment manager at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: ‘Index-tracking funds are held by 11% of Vantage clients and Vanguard funds have proved a popular choice for investors.

‘The addition of these nine Vanguard funds shows our commitment to offering clients the best range of choice on the Vantage investment supermarket, whether passive or active.’

However, Hargreaves charges a fee of £2 a month on Vanguard's tracker funds, a cost which came into force at the end of 2011. The firm implements a flat fee on trackers, which can be up to £2 as a maximum.
