Paraplanner profile: Adrian Bryant of the The Citimark Partnership

Adrian Bryant of the The Citimark PartnershipType of paraplanner:

Senior paraplanner.

Qualifications:

Diploma in financial planning (FPC 1, 2 and 3, SV1, MAQ, ER1, J01, J04, J05, AF3). I am taking R01 in February and AF4 in April 2012. I would like to achieve chartered status within the next 18 months.

Paraplanning since:

I worked as a tied and then an independent adviser for a total of 12 years, carrying out my own paraplanning throughout. I have been a paraplanner on a full-time basis since February 2010.

Why paraplanning?

I saw the profession was going through a period of major change and felt the future lay in the high-net-worth client sector. I had always been comfortable with the paraplanning side of the adviser role and saw a full-time paraplanner role as a means to establish myself in the high-net-worth sector and make full use of my qualifications. I enjoy paraplanning and am in no immediate hurry to return to an adviser role, although I am prepared to consider it at some point in the future.

Most challenging aspect of paraplanning:

Keeping up to date with ever-changing rules and regulations and being able to explain these changes to clients in straightforward terms. Producing high-quality work to tight deadlines.
