Skerritts enlists ex-Aegon head to drive growth
by Jun Merrett on Oct 18, 2011 at 08:00
Former Aegon head of annuity sales Mark Cardy has joined Hove-based Skerritt Consultants as an associate director.
Cardy (pictured) has joined the firm after 18 months of running his own business Mark Cardy Consulting, which helped prepare IFAs for the retail distribution review (RDR).
Skerritts managing director Richard Skerritt and Cardy have known each for over 10 years due to Cardy’s stint as Aegon’s Brighton and South East regional manager.
Cardy said: ‘We [met] over the summer, he asked what I was up to and said he could use me in his business.’
Cardy will be tasked with developing Skerritts’ discretionary management and platform offering.
‘The firm has a big bank of clients and a great reputation locally, so I’m building on that,’ he said.
‘Skerritts is ahead of the curve and it’s got the awards to recognise that,’ he said.
‘I thought it would be a good place to work and an interesting place as many of the IFAs I have met don’t view RDR in the same light as them; as an opportunity. My experiences are complimentary to the firm.’
Skerritts scooped the New Model Adviser® South East Regional firm of the year award this year.
