Sound FP staff face mud, glorious mud for charity

by Maryrose Fison on Feb 18, 2010 at 08:00

Billericay-based Sound Financial Planning has gone ‘charity mad’ as team members prepare to take part in the annual Maldon Mud Run later this year to help raise money for charity.

Staff will trudge through sludge stretching across the Blackwater Estuary in Essex in the eccentric competition, which has been running since 1973.

More than 200 competitors took part last year in fancy dress, helping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity. The course is only 400 metres long but can take up to an hour to complete.

The Maldon Mud Run is one of Sound Financial Planning’s more light-hearted challenges. Last year director Andrew Hall, paraplanner David Peck and adviser support officer Emma Hubbard braved subzero temperatures to throw themselves out of an aircraft at 10,000 feet.

Together Hubbard, Hall and Peck raised £1,671 in the charity skydive for the Little Havens Children’s Hospice, which provides end-of-life care for young people with terminal illnesses. .

The team has also taken part in a Race for Life, helping to raise awareness and money for Cancer Research.
