Stadia Trustees launches first-ever Sipp qualification
by William Robins on Nov 30, 2010 at 08:00
Stadia Trustees has launched the first-ever qualification for Sipp trustees and administrators.
The level three qualification for member directed pension scheme administration (MDPSA) has developed in conjunction with the Association of Member Directed Pension Schemes (Amps).
It has been enrolling its first students over the last few months.
Stadia director Tony Hales said: ‘Our aim was to give the Sipp industry a level three diploma. Other pensions administrators are using a range of qualifications which are very basic or designed for financial advisers.’
Administrators typically take the financial planning certificate, diploma in pension calculation and qualification in pension administration.
‘If you compare the units offered by the MDPSA and other qualifications, you will not find any that really drill as far into the engine of a Sipp,’ said Hale.
Hales said there are now 20 people on the course including nine from pensions actuarial and consultancy firm Barnett Waddingham.
