Tax adviser faces £8m claims over film scheme
by Daniel Grote on Nov 26, 2012 at 07:18
Tax adviser Ward Consultancy is facing claims of £8 million from clients advised to invest in film schemes run by Future Capital Partners and failed property ventures, according to the Mail on Sunday.
According to the paper, 24 investors are seeking redress from the Reading-based firm. One of the schemes, Eclipse Film Partnership 35, also attracted investment from Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, although it is not known if they are taking action.
A tax tribunal ruled earlier this year that investors weren't entitled to tax reliefs the scheme had been intended to provide.
The paper said that investors, advised by claims management firm Rebus, have been rushing to bring claims against the firm, as it has gone into administration.
Chris Ward, who founded and ran the company, declined to comment to the Mail on Sunday.
