Treasury appoints financial services director general

The Treasury has appointed Charles Roxburgh as director general of financial services.

Roxburgh will have responsibility for all issues relating to financial services, the financial system and financial stability.

Currently he is a senior partner at econmoic research firm McKinsey & Company where he specialises in working with financial institutions. He is also co-head of the McKinsey Global Institute and is a member of the firm's global board.

He replaces Jonathan Taylor, who has been appointed vice-president of the European Investment Bank.

Nev heard of Jonathan Taylor ~ if part of his brief was to keep the FSA in check and hold it to account for its multitude of failings and fudge-ups he didn't do much of a job, did he?

And how does the post of DG of FS sit alongside CE of the FCA? Is Martin Wheatley subordinate to Charles Roxburgh or his equal or his senior or what? Will the two of them interact in any way?

All you need to know is that they will be paid well and for this they will be able to explain why the gate was OPEN before the horses bolted

McKinsey old boys act like a freemasonry without the charitable intent. Choosing one of them as DG Financial Services does not fill me with confidence in the selection process.

Can somebody please tell me how a degree in "Tthe Classics" equips this guy for overseeing the Financial Servicesbeing Industry?

MBAs are ten a penny these days if you or your family can afford to pay to get one.

Is it any wonder our country is in the sh..... !

Buggins turn, then?

Good questions Julian, but is there any prospect of an answer?

Sorry to double-post but look at page 5 of the 8 on this site and ask yourself how many of these have you seen/heard commenting on Cru or any other problems recently.
