UK paraplanners are leading the way
by Richard Allum on Nov 28, 2012 at 11:03
One of the inspirations for setting up my business over a decade ago came from Australia where, at the time, paraplanning was an integral part of the financial advice process and outsourced paraplanning was commonplace.
Since then, the role in the UK has grown and developed at quite a pace. Based on some of my recent discussions, it is now seen as leading the way by colleagues in other countries.
International information sharing
In recent weeks I have had discussions with paraplanners and advisers in Australia, South Africa and the US, all of whom were interested in the role of the paraplanner in the UK. They wanted to know about the sense of community and collaboration among UK paraplanners and the focused qualifications and events available to us.
It seems to me that, whereas a decade ago we were importing paraplanning ideas, we are now among those leading the way. And it is up to us to keep raising the standards.

Isn't a paraplanner an IFA who cannot sell?

No, you are all wrong. A Paraplanner is more qualified and younger version of an IFA.
