AA-rated Giles Hargreave launches ‘nano-cap’ fund
by Robert St George on Oct 15, 2013 at 14:14
Marlborough Fund Managers has launched a new fund that will focus on the market’s tiniest companies.
To be managed by Citywire AA-rated Giles Hargreave (pictured), Guy Feld and David Walton, the Marlborough Nano-Cap Growth fund will invest in companies with a market capitalisation of less than £75 million.
Marlborough acknowledged that capacity would be constrained due to the size of the companies to be backed, and warned that ‘the fund may not be suitable for investors who plan to withdraw their money within 10 years.’
After an initial launch period running from 14 to 30 October, the first pricing point will be 31 October.
Hargreave’s existing Marlborough UK Micro Cap Growth , a £195 million Citywire Selection pick, has returned 92% over the past three years compared with 73% from the FTSE Small Cap index over the same period. It invests primarily in firms with a market capitalisation below £250 million at the time of purchase.
