How can we help you?
Advising or acting for clients is an increasingly tough business. Citywire’s guiding aim is to help you make better decisions in running your business and serving your clients. You’ll find a large part of Citywire is dedicated to helping you to weigh up the best investment strategies for clients, along with all the hot industry news, moves and gossip.
Why can we help you?
Without sounding too immodest, we think we have the best team of financial journalists around.
There’s more than 25 of them and a large majority of them have taken their exams and are registered as investment advisers with the UK Financial Services Authority.
They have won a stack of awards including the team award for excellence in investment writing from the Investment Management Association every year since 2005. They’re our version of the Oscars although we manage to keep our eyes dry when we accept the trophies.
We’re also pretty good at providing the information tools you might need. If you visit our Performance Section you’ll find a treasure trove of facts and figures that can help you make the best investment selections.
We’re particularly proud of the way we sort out the best fund managers with our unique Fund Manager Ratings. They were our idea and are used by many major fund management houses in their adverts.
You’ll also learn quite a lot from fellow readers via the comments facility and our Forums. They tend to be an opinionated lot. (Money edition only)
So how do we make money?
The site is completely free to read. This is broadly how we earn our money:
- Advertising and sponsorship on the website
- Advertising and sponsorship in our magazines for financial professionals
- Sponsored events attended by financial professionals
- Fund management companies paying us to license the Citywire Fund Manager Ratings. Note that we never charge them to rate their managers. They only pay us if they want to license the Ratings.
How many people work at Citywire?
Right now (June 2010) we’ve around 100 people in departments ranging from editorial to sales, IT, events, accounts and production.
What do they look like?

Endre,
Apologies for the confusion! If you click the 'My Account' link (at the top, just above the search bar), the Portfolio option will appear just beneath the search bar.
Alternatively go straight to http://www.citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager/my-citywire/my-profile.aspx.
We'll be implementing various tweaks and fixes over the coming days, and will look at whether we need to put the portfolio link in a more obvious place.
Thanks
Rich

Nice fresh appearance - well done.
Is there a graphical presentation of the FTSE so that I can see the days progress as well as just the spot figure.
Finally will you provide the new look as an iPad app? The current iPhone version is not upto much.

My portfolio no longer functions. Neither the 'performance', nor 'overall' buttons function. I hope these features are not discontinued as part of your revamp.
cheers, Chris

Why have you abandoned the Brokers Recs page?
