Adam & Co's Mitchell joins Cavendish to bolster investment team

Cavendish Asset Management has beefed up its investment team with the hire of Neil Mitchell as assistant fund manager and two new analysts.
Mitchell joins from Adam & Co, where he was the assistant fund manager on the private bank’s AIM portfolio, alongside Simon Steele.
AA-rated Paul Mumford, senior investment director at Cavendish, said Mitchell has been brought on board to work alongside him on the Cavendish Opportunities and AIM funds.
‘He’s hit the road running and it’s been a terrific fit. Neil has specialised in the same area as myself, namely small-cap and AIM-listed stocks, and while there is some overlap in companies that we follow, there is also a raft of stocks that I haven’t been familiar with which we can now consider for our AIM-portfolio.’
After launching Japanese, European, North American and technology portfolios, Cavendish last month announced it was rolling out three more funds.
The Asia-Pacific, UK Balanced Income and UK Select funds were launched in May and June this year, with Mumford revealing two new investment analysts, Peter Renton and Deepti Goyal, had been hired to boost the firm’s research capabilities. He said: ‘Deepti is getting involved in the Worldwide fund and there has been more overseas emphasis, while Peter has been working a fair bit on the Balanced Income fund.’
With established analyst Sylvie Huang already on board at Cavendish, Mumford said the plan was to develop the team and establish a strong track record on the Oeic range. ‘The ultimate aim for them all is to work towards looking after funds,’ he added.
Although Cavendish Asset Management has a number of private clients, Mumford said the company will not be looking to establish a wealth management arm.
