Anderson Strathern poaches Harry Morgan
by David Campbell on Jun 17, 2014 at 12:19
Anderson Strathern Asset Management has hired Harry Morgan, formerly of Thomas Miller Investment Management and Adam & Co, as chief investment officer.
Thomas Miller has promoted Andrew Herberts to fill Morgan's position as head of private investment management.
He will take up the position in August.‘We are very excited about Harry joining the company,’ said Anderson Strathern chief executive and former Wealth Manager cover star Alec Stewart.
‘This signals our intention to significantly grow the investment and asset management business. Harry will bring additional depth to our investment analysis, chairing the company’s asset allocation and investment committees.’
Investment within the company has until now been headed by Stewart, who will continue as head of asset allocation.
The company was spun out of Scottish law firm Anderson Strathern as an independent investment and financial planning boutique in 2011. It said it has consistently grown assets under management and revenue by more than 11% a year since. ‘Anderson Strathern is an excellent company and I am very glad to be joining them,’ said Morgan.
He joined Thomas Miller in 2012 from Adam & Co, where he was head of investment management. He had earlier stepped back from his role in the company to study for an MBA, which he was awarded this year.
He was previously head of investment management in Scotland at Newton and head of private clients at Edinburgh Fund Managers.
Thomas Miller chief executive Mike Balfour said: '[Herbert's] contributions to the company have played an important role in helping to grow our onshore private client bank and driving the excellent investment performance experienced by both our institutional and private clients.'
