Apollo hires former Skandia manager Hughes for multi-asset team
by Robert St George on Sep 11, 2013 at 13:58
Ryan Hughes, formerly a senior portfolio manager at Skandia, is to join Apollo Multi Asset Management next month.
At Skandia Hughes (pictured) worked on the Best Ideas range, first as a fund manager and then in product development.
Once he assumes his position at Apollo, Hughes will work in the fund management team alongside co-founders Steve Brann, Ian Willings and Craig Wetton.
‘We are particularly pleased for Ryan to be joining the team, adding complimentary skills to the existing team but he also brings a wealth of knowledge from his experiences in the industry, especially in RDR friendly fund and model portfolios solutions,’ said Brann, Apollo’s chief investment officer.
‘I am delighted to be joining Apollo Multi Asset at what is a very positive time for the business,’ Hughes added. ‘With so many advisers looking to use multi-asset solutions, the opportunity to join Apollo which has forged a very strong pedigree in a relatively short time is hugely exciting.’
He confirmed that he would focus on the ‘rapidly growing’ discretionary business at Apollo.
Apollo, founded in 2008 and based in Reigate, runs four multi-asset funds: Defensive, Cautious, Balanced, and Adventurous. The Balanced fund, the largest in the suite at £67 million, has generated a total return of 37.5% since its launch five years ago.
