Ashcourt Rowan recruits area director from RBS

Ashcourt Rowan has named John Spink as area director for its financial planning arm.

Spink will report to Steven Midgley, who joined Ashcourt Rowan from National Australia Group last June, to head its new financial planning business.

Spink has been hired from the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he most recently served as regional director for London.

His appointment follows that of Stuart Moment as area director, who moved from a position as head of the northern region for Broadstone in January.

Wealth Manager understands that no firm geographical responsibilities have been assigned among the area directors yet.

Midgley set the recruitment drive in the context of Ashcourt Rowan’s acquisition of UK Wealth Management (UKWM) at the end of last year for up to £14.25 million. That deal added five northern offices to Ashcourt Rowan’s network, which now comprises 17 branches. Assets at the combined group now exceed £5 billion, of which £2.2 billion is discretionary and managed.

‘The area director team is key to our growth plans across the UK,’ Midgley told Wealth Manager. ‘They lead and mentor our planners, playing an important role in developing and growing our people and ensuring the quality of client experience and outcomes.’

Spink added: ‘Ashcourt Rowan is a firm that has a clear idea of where it wants to be and how to get there. It has already taken advantage of the consolidation opportunities with the recent acquisition of UKWM and I am very excited to be involved in the next chapter.’
