A great idea, shame it does not deliver across the board. Once again a publication looking at the tired out theories of investment, i.e. focussing on funds appertaining to single sector investments. The requirement now is for diversification to protect the investor from risk, not focussed single theory high risk of downside funds. One comment in the document supports the very questionable asset sector "40% - 85%" equity funds. As was identifed in 2012, a very ill defined approach to diversification and client suitability as a definition of how a fund should work.
Possibly Citywire should start to look forward to the modern client requirements for fund solutions that deliver diversification in a manner that is aligned to a clients requirements, not a fund managers hopes. It is a shame that in 2013 after the last decade of identifed self-interest that has driven the reputation of people in Financial Services into the ground, that highly visible, Industry respected publications, are serving the old guard and not looking to encourage a more client focussed approach to serving our customers.
